In collaboration with Anesvad, Tabakalera presents a series of conferences and workshops aimed at promoting and spreading the culture of software application programming with social objectives.
In September 2013 Anesvad held a social "hackathon" in Bilbao - a pioneering initiative in the field of cooperation which sought to create apps that they would help protect and promote the right to health. The applications were focussed on Ghana, India, Thailand and Peru.
Apps4health – Lanean aims to organise a series of workshops and conferences that promote and spread the culture of software application programming with social objectives.
7 March – CONFERENCES. 19:00 – 21:00
19:00 – 20:00 Pablo Garaizar (Txipi): Technological decisions, ideological consequences
It will ask questions such as: Is technology neutral? Are devices political? What impact do the media we chose to reach our goals have? At this talk, we will debate these issues, trying to understand the political choices and models of society hidden behind our technological decisions.
20:00-21:00 Carlos Tomás Moro (Txarlie Axebra): From theory to practice: What could go wrong?
He will provide an overview of errors, both his own and other people's, made when designing a solution in an office or laboratory without understanding the environment, culture or the needs of the end user.
8 March. 10:00 – 19:00
The Saturday session will be based around the idea of the need to contextualise the environment for the design and development of apps and other technologies. What do we need to know and bear in mind when trying to create an app for countries in the south?
The first session will be held from 10:00 to 17:30 and will combine different presentations on contexts, case studies and experience with practical sessions. The workgroup for the exhibitions is already closed. However, if anyone has a particular interest in participating they can contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
After these sessions, various organisations linked to the social sector and ICT will be invited to share their experiences. It will be an occasion you can participate in and share with everyone, whether you have participated in the previous sessions or not.
18:00 - 19:00 Open presentation of projects
