Candela Cienfuegos : la pastora

Their documentary project La Pastora (The Shepherdess) is the story of Florencio Pla Meseguer, an intersex maqui from the Sierra del Maestrazgo that was documented in the civil registry as a woman but began their transition upon fleeing into the mountains. La Pastora is a way of paying tribute to a forgotten figure mistreated by the Francoist dictatorship, of highlighting that we queer people have always been here and, lastly, another way of narrating the trans-masculine identity beyond the eyes of the city. Above all, La Pastora is a story about countryside, farmland, and farming, about loneliness and what it means to be a man or woman.
