Esther Ferrer. 2.856

According to official statistics (UNHCR, IOM, UNICEF), 2,856 immigrants died in the Mediterranean sea during the first six months of 2016. In Ferrer’s opinion, we read the news of those deaths as if those dead people were anonymous, nameless, just a number: 2,856, a number. Because of that very same reason, she counted them, one by one, in front of the people. ‘Maybe, by reciting this sad litany, this topic will concern us more; maybe, our ability to mobilise will increase, in order to get the policies that Europe has established against emigration to change. Those who get out of it alive also need our help’, said Esther Ferrer.
