The starting point of Donostia 2016, European Capital of Culture was the following: that the participation and the presence of women in various practices and local expressions has not been carried out in a situation of equal opportunities. We still need to work on women’s rights in various fields, as we haven’t achieved an equal participation in the fields of culture and tradition. In order to reflect on this, the project gathered around thirty people and agents between April 1st and 3rd, at the Biarritz youth hostel. They all work in the following fields: cultural associations, feminist associations, academia, local public administrations, etcetera. Thanks to the gathering of various perspectives, the encounter shared stories from the past, looked for points of agreement, described a collective future where women will have greater power to decide how and where they will participate, and tried to offer social guarantees to achieve that goal.
