Soinua iratzarri. Kontzertua = Despertar el sonido. Concierto = Awaken the sound. Concert = Réveiller le son. Concert

The starting point for Awaken the Sound were Jose María Usandizaga and Lili Boulanger. The students immersed themselves in their work and biographies when composing music, in order to find the motivations at the core of their works and to use that knowledge for the creation of new work, afterwards, with their contemporary tutors. For example, together with the Zurriola group, Jagoba Astiazaran created a rhapsody or mash up between Usandizaga’s Txantxangorria and some Basque pop songs. On the other hand, in the work for Zuhaizti, the children created a huge storm with voice techniques that represented wind and water. Xabi Otaola’s proposals were based on improvisation. In the work created for Zurriola, the children became magical beings, awakening the sound of musical instruments by blowing. With the Zuhaizti students, he worked with all kinds of objects that made sounds by blowing. Finally, Mikel Chamizo used minimalism in his two proposals. Over a rhythmic base, children threw balls, jumped the rope and threw streamers, among other surprises. The one-hour concert was guided with the texts written and recited by Itziar Zubizarreta, the pedagogical coordinator of the project.
