Zinema eta Giza Eskubideen Nazioarteko Gazte Topaketa = Encuentro Internacional de la Juventud de Europa de Cine y Derechos Humanos
During the Film Festival Week, the International Youth Encounter of Cinema and Human Rights was celebrated in the city, as part of the Donostia 2016 programme, in collaboration with the Youth and Shelter Department of San Sebastian city council. A group of over 30 young people participated in the encounter. 7 people in the group were from San Sebastian and its surroundings, 19 were European (Italy, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and Poland) and 4 were from Western Sahara. Thus, young people with profiles related to human rights or the audio visual world and with experience worked with members from other origins, and they had a magnificent opportunity to share knowledge and experiences and to apply them to practical situations. This promoted the creation of critical opinions. Through the initiative, they wanted to promote a reflection on human rights and the opportunities that audiovisual media and new technologies offer, precisely about the chances that new technologies offer as a tool to inform of violations of human rights and as a tool to raise awareness, to promote and defend that human rights are respected all around the world.
