Josebe Martínez is Professor of Hispanic-American Literature at the University of the Basque Country will stage the conference Montecristi Manifesto (25 March, 1895) is the proclamation of the poet, thinker and founder of the Cuban Revolutionary Party, José Martí (Havana, 1853 - Dos Ríos, 1895). It is the declaration of the war of independence of Cuba against Spain (1895-1898).

The manifesto also represents a call for the uprising of the Cuban population against the Spanish government, denouncing the persistence of the colonial order and appealing to the national will and for miscegenation.
