Transit

Transit, Christian Petzold, Germany, France, 2018, 101’
When a modern Paris was being invaded by foreign troops, Georg, a German refugee, flees to Marseille, assuming the identity of a deceased writer. There he becomes involved in the lives of a mother and son and meets the writer's enigmatic wife, Marie. Petzold boldly transforms Anna Seghers' World War II novel into a haunting period film set in an ambiguous present.
Nominated for the Golden Bear at the Berlinale 2018, it screened at several international festivals and won Best Film at the Dublin International Film Festival in 2019, and the Jury Prize at the Portland International Film Festival, also in 2019.
