El botón de nácar, Patricio Guzmán, Chile, 2015, 82'
The ocean contains the history of mankind. The sea holds the voices of the Earth and of those that come from outer space. The water receives its impetus from the stars and transmits it. The water, the longest border in Chile, also holds the secret of a mysterious button that was discovered on the sea floor. Chile, with its 2,670 miles of coastline, the largest archipelago in the world, presents us with a supernatural landscape. It includes volcanoes, mountains and glaciers. It includes the voices of the indigenous Patagonian people, the first English sailors and political prisoners. They say that water has a memory. This film shows us that it also has a voice.
