For the last two years, theatres and cultural centres in the Southern Basque Country and Aquitaine have been opening their doors to welcome dance and theatre residency projects in their creation phase. At the same time, associations, residents and above all children from both sides of the border are sharing these processes with participating companies, enriching themselves and each other through the dynamics of artistic mediation. This programme seeks to renovate how the performing arts sector does things. It responds to the need to question some of the roles established to date, where the artist is occasionally a strange and distant character that lives in a bubble, the spectator is the a passive ticket buyer and the cultural facility or theatre is a space in which these elements are found. Mugalariak is an education and creation programme that is now celebrating its third edition. It has the same goal that has driven it in the past: to continue to challenge the traditional methods of creation and encounters between artists and citizens, and to build bridges between agents in the Euroregion to promote the mobility of companies, the exchange of experiences and future projects. Small experiences, meetings and life lessons that, like acupuncture, contribute little by little to the renovation and enrichment of the region's cultural ecosystem.
