European Dialogues is a cycle of meetings between citizens open to participation where attendees will have the opportunity to discuss European issues with important figures including Jose Manuel Durão Barroso, ex-President of the European Commission; Antonio Vitorino, former European Minister for Justice; Fausto Pocar, Judge of the International Criminal Tribunal; and Saskia Sassen, the Dutch sociologist, among others. Justice, the experience of women, human rights, the impact of multinational companies, the environment and the cultural transformation of European societies will be among the subjects discussed. The objective of the initiative is to open a forum for debate among conference lecturers and citizens, who will also be able to participate through social media. Furthermore, every session will have a guest poet who will write socially-oriented verse around the issue discussed at the meeting. At the end of the cycle a recital will be given where some of these compositions can be heard.
